University of Groningen

RuG is a public research university in the city of Groningen in the Netherlands. The university was founded in 1614 and is one of the oldest universities in the Netherlands as well as one of its largest. Since its inception more than 200,000 students have graduated, and now houses eleven faculties, nine graduate schools, 27 research centres and institutes, including the University Medical Center (UMCG). RuG ranks 59 in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) in 2017-2018, published by the Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Rug is active in several research & education programs. In 2016, the following grants and prizes were awarded to scientists of Rug: Nobel Prize for Prof. Ben Feringa, Spinoza Prize for Prof. Lodi Nauta, Prof. Bart van Wees, and Prof. Cisca Wijmenga, 20 Dutch grants (Veni / Vidi /Vici ), 4 ERC Starting Grants, 1 ERC Consolidator Grant en 2 ERC Advanced Grants
